This diploma project explores how design could respond to the issue of overcrowding in French prisons. Rather than focusing on expanding facilities or reducing the prison population, I investigated how better allocation of inmates could help ease tensions and violence caused by overcrowding.
Les Prisons Françaises.
Diploma Project / Awarded 1rst Prize, Ecole Intuit. Lab 2016
I developed the graphic language and visual identity for a human resources–based system that classifies inmates into behavioural typologies. The system uses these profiles to identify complementary combinations and inform cell allocation, with the aim of creating more balanced living environments.
If we cannot empty or expand prisons, can we rethink how people are distributed within them?
